One monkey.
One cab.
Way too many ideas.

monkey.cab is a tiny indie game studio. The domain was cheap, the name stuck — and somehow it turned into a whole philosophy.

The idea: we cruise the streets, pick up the weird ideas standing at the side of the road and drive them all the way to something you can actually play. No detours through committees. Occasionally through a wall.

Next stop:
deep space.

Our first project is a classic space MMO: one persistent universe, a real economy — and nobody telling you what to do next.

Undock from the station, point your ship at the dark and decide for yourself what kind of pilot you want to be. Mine asteroids, haul cargo between stations, chase a price tip across three systems — or ignore all of it and fly towards the thing nobody has charted yet.

There are hardly any quest markers and no golden path. You set your own goals; the universe supplies the adventure. Behind the scenes an AI keeps the galaxy alive — markets shift, events unfold, new opportunities appear — so there's always something going on out there, even when only a handful of pilots are online.

  • 01

    A persistent universe

The galaxy keeps turning after you log off. What you build, trade or discover stays.

  • 02

    A real economy

Prices come from supply and demand, not from a spreadsheet. Every cargo run nudges the market.

  • 03

    An AI-driven world

An AI keeps things interesting — events, rivals and opportunities, even on quiet nights with few players around.

  • 04

    A true sandbox

Few markers, few rules. Nobody hands you a checklist — you decide what's worth doing.

  • 05

    Explore & research

Uncharted systems, strange signals, unknown technology. Fly far enough and it's your name on the star map.

  • 06

    Your own story

Trader, miner, explorer, scientist — or something nobody planned for. Dive into another world and make it yours.

The trunk

What's in
the trunk

Everything you need to build a game, crammed in the back of a cab and held together with enthusiasm.

Game design

Mechanics that feel good long before they look good.

Art & animation

Loud colours, thick lines, zero beige.

Code

Engines, tools and prototypes. Held together with more than tape. Mostly.

Sound

Bleeps, bloops and the occasional honk.

The cab also takes freelance fares — prototypes, game art, tools.
